3. Legal Internship

Haki Centre is a registered Non-Governmental Organization working to promote progressive realization of human rights, peace and security for development, and access to justice. The organization is looking for curious and highly motivated individuals seeking to acquire valuable hands-on experience in human rights advocacy, social justice, and legal empowerment, to fill the position of legal intern for three months. The position holder will be stationed in Mombasa.

The ideal candidate must:
  • Have recently completed or currently undertaking post graduate diploma in law.
  • Be knowledgeable and passionate about social justice, legal empowerment, and public interest litigation.
  • Possess demonstrable skills in community mobilization and education as well as good communication, facilitation and report writing skills.
  • Be able and willing to provide legal education and free legal advice to Haki Centre’s persons of concern including stateless persons, persons at risk of statelessness, and children in conflict with the law.
  • Be conversant with documenting and following up social justice issues, and participating in public policy discussions/legal debates with an aim to influence relevant law.
  • Be ready to start immediately.
